In the process of water blocking and fracturing construction of oil/water well, working solution using polymer as the thickening agent is inevitable in order to improve blocking strength or carrying sand performance and reduce filtration, etc. However, because of operation, the polymer’s own performance, or other reasons, it may cause polymer block or other water sludge block in the formation, thus affecting the operation. Therefore we must remove the block, restore formation permeability, and improve the efficiency of operation.

To deal with above situation, we developed a type of block remover to remove the polymer blocked.  Good result has been obtained by laboratory evaluation and field trial. Whether as vegetable gum for fracturing fluid, modulation for water blocking, or PAM for tertiary oil recovery, it cannot be a water soluble polymer. Otherwise if its chain is broken, or completely crack, it can be converted to low viscosity material or totally soluble water solution. Based on this principle, we selected a variety of additives that can hydrate the polymer and can dissolve residue formed from polymer in order to remove block.

1. Typical physical properties /Technical data

(1)Appearance: light yellow or light red liquid;

(2)Density:1.0g/cm3(25℃);

(3)Dispersivity: soluble in water and saline at any rate;

(4)Performance for eliminating vegetable gum filter cake: permeability of core after injecting fracturing fluid prepared with ordinary Cannabina gum (with residue before filtration) decline to 1/2 ~ 1/4 of its original. After injecting the block remover, the permeability of the core recovered 85% of its original value. Permeability increased by 0.6 ~ 1.0 times compared to that of after damage.

(5)PAM crosslinking fluid gel-breaking performance:  prepare aqueous solution of 0.05% with 30353S, add chromate salt cross-linking agent to form gel. Take about 200 g of gel. Add block remover 200 ml, stirring 30 min under constant temperature 80 ℃, gel converts into aqueous solution.

(6)Corrosion inhibition performance: corrosion rate ≤5g/m2·h(90℃ with 1% corrosion inhibitor 4h)

(7)Surface tension: ≤30mN/m

2. Uses

First, fully wash well. Then, prepare the block remover solution at the ratio of 1:3 or 1:5 with water.  Add 1 ~ 2% corrosion inhibitor. Inject into formation with pump truck to replace active water. Shut well to react 2 ~ 4 hours. Choke, drain, wash well, and move to production.
